Ife

Ife Art is dated between the 12th and 15th Century.

The first Ife work to be known to the outside world comprised the glass beads seen by John and Richard Lauder in 1832. These were followed by more discoveries were made by Leo Forbernius in 1910.

Ife art were basically of three media; bronzes, stones and terracottas. Most of the memorial heads were of the Ooni (king), queens and their attendants. For example Lafogida and Lajuwa.
