Igbo Ukwu is located near Awka in Anambra State, Nigeria. Igbo Ukwu works are mostly leaded bronzes, and date back to 900AD.
They were discovered accidentally by a farmer, Isaiah Anozie, who was digging a cistern during the dry season in 1938. He later alerted his brothers Richard and Jonah.
Igbo Ukwu objects often come in bronze, pottery and other forms and they have high and common representations of insects.
